Ways to prevent kidney stone



1. Drink plenty of water

Drinking enough water is the best way to prevent kidney stones. Water helps flush out toxins and wastes from the body and prevents them from building up in the kidneys. Drinking at least eight glasses of water each day is recommended. If you're not drinking enough water, try adding lemon juice to your water to increase its alkalinity. Lemon juice contains citric acid, which increases the amount of water that dissolves in your stomach.

2. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables

Fruits and vegetables provide many vitamins and minerals that help keep your body healthy. These foods also help reduce the risk of developing kidney stones. Try eating more fresh fruit and veggies, including citrus fruits, berries, melons, leafy greens, tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, cucumbers, and squash. You should also eat whole grains, beans, nuts, seeds, and legumes.

3. Avoid caffeine

Caffeine is a diuretic (a substance that causes urine production) and can cause dehydration. Caffeinated drinks like coffee, tea, soda, and energy drinks may make you dehydrated and prone to forming kidney stones. Instead, drink water instead of these beverages.

4. Stay away from processed food

Processed foods have been stripped of their natural nutrients and often contain high amounts of sodium and sugar. Processed foods can lead to weight gain and increased risks of diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Stick to whole foods like fruits, vegetables, lean meats, fish, eggs, dairy products, and nuts.

5. Get regular exercise

Exercise keeps your muscles strong and helps burn calories. Exercise also reduces stress levels and lowers blood pressure. A study published in the Journal of Urology showed that people who exercised regularly were less likely to develop kidney stones than those who did not exercise.

6. Reduce salt intake

Salt makes your body retain fluids, which can lead to swelling and blockages in your urinary tract. Limit your daily salt intake to no more than 2 grams per day.

7. Maintain proper fluid balance

Maintaining proper fluid balance is important for preventing kidney stones. Fluid retention can result in swelling around the joints and abdomen, which can obstruct the flow of urine. To avoid this problem, drink plenty of water throughout the day and limit alcohol consumption.
