Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates are an essential part of a healthy diet. They are the main source of energy for the body, and they provide important nutrients.

Carbohydrates come in many different forms. The most common forms are sugars, starches, and fibers. Sugars are the simplest form of carbohydrate that can be found in nature or made by humans through cooking or processing foods like fruit and vegetables. Starches are long chains of sugar molecules that can be found in things like bread and pasta, as well as some vegetables like potatoes. Fiber is a type of carbohydrate that cannot be broken down by human digestive enzymes and instead passes through the body unchanged.

A healthy diet should include three types of carbohydrates: whole grains, fruits/vegetables, and legumes/nuts/seeds.
